2022 NYIAS Starts Off with the Last Chrysler 300C

Written By, Jordan R

As the 2022 North American International Auto Show, otherwise known as the 2022 Detroit Auto Show, gets underway, we have a lot of new models and concepts to look forward to. Will some of the Dodge “Last Call” models be there? One can only hope. We do know one special edition vehicle from Stellantis will be the Chrysler 300c's farewell edition. Yes, as Chrysler starts to expand its lineup with upcoming electric vehicles (EVs), we’re going to have to bid farewell to the Chrysler 300C, but it’s going out in style.

“We’re celebrating the Chrysler 300 and it’s iconic legacy in the automotive world…The Chrysler 300 changed the automotive world in so many ways, and we will carry that spirit of ingenuity forward as we transform Chrysler with a fully electrified future and breakthrough customer experiences.” - Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand chief executive officer

The major change coming to the 2023 Chrysler 300C is a new 6.4-liter HEMI® engine under the hood, able to generate 485 horsepower. Revealed on the eve of media day for the 2022 North American International Auto Show near the Spirit of Detroit statue in downtown Detroit, we’re ending an era of one of Chrysler’s last-standing models. With the last model year production of the Chrysler 300 ending in 2023, this car dates back to 1955. An icon of American luxury and performance for the past few decades, we’ve always called it the “James Bond” car, and we’re sad to see it go.

With a limited run of only 2,000 units offered in the U.S, and an extra 200 strictly in Canada, the 2023 Chrysler 300C has speed. Powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI able to generate 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, the 300C can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds. Nice run time, including the quarter-mile run in 12.4 seconds with a top speed of 160 mph. All that power from the 392 cubic-inch engine is transferred through a TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission. Additional engineering updates include red four-piston Brembo brakes, a 3.09 limited slip differential, active damping suspension and black, rounded exhaust tips for a throaty roar.

The Chrysler 300C of course comes with its own style, with a new tri-color 300C badge on the grille and rear decklid. Black chrome accents adorn the front grille and lower front fascia. Riding on 20-by-9-inch forged wheels all-season performance tires, consumers have the choice of three exterior colors - Gloss Black, Velvet Red, and Bright White. Inside the Chrysler 300C, the cabin comes with its own splash of style. The upholstery is all black Laguna leather front seats featuring a new 300C logo and silver stitching on the seats, doors, and a leather instrument panel. Interior bezels are highlighted with carbon fiber and Piano Black.
