It’s a new year and the same annual “best of” lists, competitions, and studies are starting up again. For the 2023 model year, there should be a lot of new consumers, especially with much of the auto industry going electric and saying goodbye to some fan favorites. There are so many sources for a new consumer to turn to when they want to find out what’s the best car on the market to buy, and that’s why publications like Car and Driver have their “best of” lists. Except, when it comes to Car and Driver, there’s an extra bit of prestige that goes with it, seeing as how out of all the cars and trucks on the market, this publication narrows their list down to ten for the Car and Driver 10Best list.

“Last month we gave out our 2023 10Best Cars awards; this time, we're picking our favorite trucks, SUVs, and basically anything that isn't a car. With the market shift away from cars and the explosion of SUV and truck offerings, we decided to give them their due and award a second 10Best. We invited trucks, SUVs, and vans priced from below $110,000.” – Car and Driver

Yep, last month, the 2023 Car and Driver 10Best was sure a nice lineup with a couple of Cadillacs, a Chevrolet Corvette, and even a Porsche. That last one costs a pretty penny, so when it came to trucks, SUVs, and other vehicles, the target price isn’t as huge. For instance, the 2023 Ram 1500 made the list, starting at $33,975 (plus destination fee). The new generation of the Ram 1500 light duty pickup truck was designed to be more than a work truck; to be a lifestyle truck, and Ram delivered. That’s what the Car and Driver 10Best is all about – vehicles that are the most advanced and engaging fulfill their mission to be better than any of its peers in this the competition. Also making headway, when it comes to SUVs, the 2023 Kia Telluride is one of the big ones, and the largest SUV in the lineup for the South Korean automaker. Starting at $35,890 (plus destination fee), the Telluride revealed X-Line and X-Pro trims for a more rugged and sporty look for the 2023 model, plus a new grille, headlights, and a front bumper for the rest of the lineup. There’s also an available smart power liftgate with auto-close functionality, a 12.3-inch instrument panel inside, and new advanced driver-assist features.

That list said everything that isn’t a car, so how about an all-electric crossover? That would be the 2023 Kia EV6, the first of its kind from the Kia Corporation, showing the market what an all-electric vehicle can do. Starting at $48,700 (plus destination fee), the EV6 has some real performance when getting behind the wheel of the 576 horsepower GT model, able to go from 0-60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. Charge up with a 240 kW rate with fast-charge DC charging and get 100 miles in just ten minutes With an EPA-estimated range of 310 miles, the EV6 proves that performance doesn’t stop with gasoline.

One vehicle to pop up that surprised many is the Rivian RT1 all-electric pickup truck. Startups don’t usually make the 10Best list, but not many also make as much noise as Rivian did with the RT1. We still think about all this truck has to offer: a removable roof, a built-in kitchen hidden in the truck body, and, a pop-up tent for camping in the RT1 truck. Able to accelerate from 0-60 mpg in 3.0 seconds, this is one truck that performs far beyond what any truck on the market can offer at the moment, and with a large 128.9-kWh battery pack can hit the highway at 75 mph easy has an estimated total range of up to 280 miles.
