Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) had been searching for a person to take over the lead spot of their ever-popular Jeep brand. FCA decided to go with someone familiar with a popular brand and selected the chairman and global president of Nissan’s luxury brand Infiniti, Christian Meunier, 51. He was selected thanks to his ability to lead, his experience with a world-class brand and understanding of what Jeep is trying to do (continuing their goal to take over the world!)

Who Is Christian Meunier?

The newest Global President of Jeep is also going to be apart of the company’s Group Executive Council, responsible for offering suggestions and key decision making. This is a position that has been held by current CEO Mike Manley, who spoke fondly of Meunier.

"I am delighted to add Christian to the leadership team we're building to drive FCA forward. He brings additional world-class strength and experience to an already-proven bench, and I look forward to the continuation of the Jeep brand's growth under his stewardship." Mike Manley said in a news release.

Having worked as Division Vice President of Infiniti Global Sales, Marketing and Operations, as a Senior Vice President of sales, marketing and operations for Nissan North Amerca and as a Chairman for Nissan Canada and President of Nissan Canada and Brazil, Meunier has a lot of global experience in helping reshape a brand to gain popularity and recognition. Before working with Nissan, he was employed with key sales and marketing positions at Ford, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz in both Europe and the United States.

Massive Plans For Jeep

The market for SUVs has become robust and Jeep is hoping to have sales increase thanks to his direct influence. FCA has not done entirely well in China and there is hope he can help expand the Jeep brand there as well. Jeep recently introduced their first pickup in the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, which is their first truck option in nearly 30 years. They also have plans to release a Jeep Wrangler plug-in hybrid option, a revived Jeep Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer to be released early in the next decade. This is a great situation for Meunier to join as Jeep sales were stellar last year and while they have slightly gone down after the first quarter sales reports came in, there is plenty to like looking ahead for the ever-popular Jeep brand.
