Ford has invested into a plan to keep the gasoline pickup truck industry afloat. The massive investment Ford has put towards EVs is duly noted (Ford Lightning anyone?), but now the arrival of the F-150 Raptor R allows buyers an unique option that fits in the compact off-road pickup space that is wide-open from competition. The 5.2-Liter V8 engine ratchets up 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque. The new "R" trim offers a different design than found on the smaller F-150 Raptor pickup that debuted back in 2010 and currently is enjoying its third-generation run in 2022. The new F-150 Raptor R will offer more horsepower than the Ranger Raptor that was first shown in February 2022. The second-gen truck from Ford offers a twin-turbo 3.0-Liter EcoBoost V6 petrol engine that supplies 392 horsepower and is paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Ford CEO Jim Farley was quoted as saying this new Ranger Raptor will become ready for sales in 2023. 

Faster Than A Speeding Sports Car?

The F-150 Raptor R is built for off-road desert travels more than any other terrain. This new monster is more than a prized pickup for any potential customers as the total cost is steep. Breaking Down the Cost of This All-New Raptor R

The Raptor R provides a 10-speed automatic torque converter that is built with a heavy-duty turbine damper with a sturdy four-pinion output. The Raptor R gains new crossmember, trailer hitch, and stronger front Fox shocks with a reinforced jounce bumper mount. Ford went to work to improve air cooling for its new engine with the air intake volume being increased 66% thanks to a wider air intake inlet and a higher-flow, higher-efficiency conical air filter. Riding on the largest tires in the class, this is a Ford F-150 that is second to none for a cost of $109,145 MSRP. This top-tier pickup is still a few months from becoming available, but by 2023 we should see this prized ride arrive. Orders are going to be ready this month, but the production won't start till the end of the year.
