Green powertrains and a world with less carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions is the goal, and so many automakers are making the change. Any smart automaker also knows that the general public can be a little stubborn, and although sales for EVs is on the rise, some automakers worry about losing fans or consumers that always relied on them to provide a choice. Coming to the 2021 SEMA Show, lots of automakers will be showing off their new electrified models, and there will surely be plenty of choices. GMC has already teased its all-new GMC HUMMER EV models, plus nearly 200 accessories for personalizing their all-electric pickup truck.
“The all-new GMC HUMMER EV Pickup and SUV naturally lend themselves to the growing demand for personalization…Their commanding looks draw attention wherever they go, and our accessories portfolio is designed to offer customers more choices to tailor their vehicle with off-road functionality, lifestyle integration and styling enhancements.” - Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick and GMC
Who doesn’t like the feeling that something is truly theirs? When it comes to leasing a car, SUV, or truck, consumers can’t do much personalization outside of a paint job or packages already included. Aftermarket accessories give car owners a chance to turn their vehicle into something that they can relate to. GMC will be introducing three new HUMMER EV models, including a pre-production GMC HUMMER EV SUV and a pair of HUMMER EV pickups. One of the trucks will be a pure production model, presented side-by-side with another model complemented with dozens of accessories from the new portfolio to compare the two and highlight the new functional, lifestyle and aesthetic possibilities of this new EV truck.
The HUMMER EV Pickup show vehicle will be sporting select accessories from the new catalog, but there are about a dozen worth mentioning that will be a part of the SEMA Show’s New Products Showcase. These include a hard power retractable tonneau cover; an off-road recovery kit; a 50-inch roof-mounted off-road light bar; front off-road auxiliary lights; a rocker protector with integrated assist steps; a bold, uniquely styled bed-mounted vertical spare tire carrier; a Sky Panel Storage Tray Set for eTrunkTM; a unique accessory wheel design in Tech Bronze (with Tech Bronze center cap and black lugs), under-seat organizer and I-Bar storage, and cargo management rails. What might stand out to a lot of consumers is the look and feel of the new components found in the GMC HUMMER EV accessories portfolio. They were designed and tailor-made to fit vehicles like a glove, making it seem as if the vehicle came as is right off the factory line, even after modifications.
We’ll be covering more vehicles headed to production next week after coverage of the 2021 SEMA Show concludes. Happening now, from November 2 – 5, 2021, there are plenty of new models and concepts to check out. Follow along with us on NowCar social media.
