What will the future of the Jeep Wrangler look like? Jeep Wrangler owners can attest to the strengths of the Wrangler on many counts. Most would state its premium versatility and its iconic appearance. The Wrangler has attracted its fair share of customers thanks to its functionality to go nearly anywhere and allow for many uses. In an interview with CarAdvice, an Australian website, Allen talked about his ideas regarding the future Wrangler generations going forward. 

 “I truly believe that if we do an electric Wrangler, sometime in the future, that would actually be a better Wrangler. The Wrangler would be more capable off-road. It has the ability to do things that we can’t do now,” -Mark Allen

 Wrangler EV Would Drive Greater Sales

 As for the Wrangler, an eventual full-electric one would undoubtedly be a smash-hit. Sales for the 2020 Jeep Wrangler were exceptional and that's the first Wrangler with a mild-hybrid EcoDiesel powertrain option. Buyers have wanted to gain more mpg for their vehicles without the cost of losing strength. That's one measure FCA would ensure remains the same, while trying to maximize fuel efficiency. The goal for Jeep is to electric every model by 2021 and going forward to help the vehicle succeed in going off-road. The biggest hurdle might be overcoming the idea that the Jeep Wrangler is not capable of becoming a true EV. That, of course, is wrong. The future of vehicles in this decade and going forward will focus on change and getting more involved with offering innovation for owners to enjoy.

Changing the Narrative Concerning the Wrangler

The Wrangler traditionally built with the ability to go on any trail and surpass nearly any obstacle. From waterfording, rock climbing, to having the performance to deliver in extreme weather environments, that's what made Jeep fans become the Jeepers they are today. Allen spoke about how an all-electric Wrangler would allow for even better control over each individual wheels, boosting the Wrangler owner's ability to maneuver off-road. Greater traction would also be achieved. Like other brands, such as startup brand Rivian, hoping to produce the first EV SUV to go mainstream, have tried to achieve this goal first.

Jeep knows the future is in the production of finer, more fuel-efficient vehicles. Reducing to zero emissions is the ultimate goal of course. Off-road EV startups like Rivian (when it finally begins production), could place further pressure on Jeep to both reduce emissions to zero and improve performance.
