Jeep Invests In Electric Vehicles For the Future

Written By, Brad R

Good news for drivers hoping to have better gas mileage alternatives when driving, but love the Jeep brand. Jeep has announced multiple vehicles that will focus on improving fuel efficiency, starting with plug-in hybrid versions of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade. These vehicles are coming out sooner than later as they debuted at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show in Switzerland. Jeep has done well in both the United States and Europe. With the Compass being the best-selling Jeep in Europe, growing 57% in 2018 sales compared to 2017, Jeep has done extremely well. Let’s go over all mega news and the latest details shown and what customers can expect going forward with the Jeep Brand.

Special Edition Jeep Compass and Renegade Look Sharp

The Night Eagle edition Jeep Compass made its debut with its sharp Laser Blue body color paint, 19-inch wheels and Gloss Black trim on the grille, headlight bezels, and fog lights. The Jeep Renegade Limited was on display as well, showcased in a stunning turquoise color named Bikini. The Jeep Renegade Limited comes with Polar Plunge gray leather upholstery and contrasts that color with Subshine Grey side moldings, grille, and rear scuff plate. Both of these vehicles look incredible and provide power and strength when driven.

Even Better Than the Outside Is Their Inside

Under the hood, Jeep has new powertrains that will help reduce the carbon footprint drivers leave behind. Getting the most out of the gasoline added with each fill-up is nearly a requirement for all new vehicles going forward. Owners will experience 240 horsepower with the combination offered by the internal-combustion engine and electric motor. Paired together, the Compass and Renegade both offer this new engine choice as both provide up to 31 miles of electric range and an electric-only top speed that hits as fast as 81 mph. The only news that remains a mystery is when customers will be able to get their hands on these wonderful vehicles with this advanced plug-in hybrid option. They will both be listed as 2020 Jeep vehicle models, so the release date is just around the corner. Without a doubt, it will be less than a year and a half until these vehicles hit dealerships.

How Jeep Plans To Keep Advancing Their Brand

Fans perception of the Jeep brand has been mainly shaped on the off-roading abilities and the adventurous side Jeep vehicles offer. Go ing forward, Jeep would like to be seen as an ambassador towards making vehicles that are low-emission products with highly efficient capabilities. The turbocharged 1.3-Liter gasoline engine that provides the best fuel economy among the powertrain options can also net drivers a fast 0-60 mpg at under seven seconds. Jeep will eventually release PHEV Jeep vehicles. These vehicles will provide even better and more improved gas mileage and even further reduced emissions, as a PHEV is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle that helps customers save money as the operating cost of these vehicles is significantly lower. At the end of 2018, only 360,510 vehicles in the United States driven were a PHEV. Expect this number to rise dramatically in the next decade.
