While 2020 will forever be remembered for the worldwide outbreak of COVID-19, Mazda is trying to set up its healthcare customers for a break from paying for some costly automotive upkeeps. Mazda has announced they will offer free oil changes and car cleaning services for all of its customers that are a part of those helping to make a difference in the healthcare community. On top of this announcement, Mazda will go one step further with 50 special edition Mazda Miata MX-5 sports cars to 50 deserving heroes. The Reason For the Special Edition

Each winner will gain a special-edition MX-5 Miata as the automotive brand celebrates a century of car manufacturing and more as 2020 has brought a lot of change to the approach of this special edition. According to Mazda North American Operations’ (MNAO) “Mazda Heroes” initiative has set a goal for these 50 deserving adults from across the nation and will honor their goal soon. Jeff Guyton, MNAO’s president has said Mazda dealers and employees were motivated this spring by the company’s Essential Car Care Program. 

"We had hoped this time would be filled with moments of celebration and appreciation for our fans, employees, and partners. But given the many tragic events of 2020, we decided to express, in another way, our brand's unique heritage of trying to make things better," said Jeff Guyton, president of Mazda North American Operations. 

A Closer Look Into the Special Edition 

Mazda is looking for people who have exhibited "selfless acts, creative approaches, and contributions to the community." in hopes of awarding them with the exceptional Miata 100th anniversary special edition. Keep in mind, the special edition is an appearance package. Mazda has included special badging that is visible on the front fender, floor mats, key fob as well as the headrest. Mazda chose to go with a classic white finish that looks Sharp with red accents and a fully red interior. The special edition also has standard Bose audio, 17-inch alloy wheels, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The special edition is based on the R360 Mazda, the first car made by the company.

Customers have the option of a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The choice for a soft-top or an RF variant should they want. As far as the contest goes, Mazda has announced they will be taking submissions through October 25th, 2020. To nominate someone you know, visit the Mazda Heroes website, and submit a short video around a minute in length detailing why someone should be chosen. Honorees will be declared on December 2nd, 2020.
