start credit applicationTechnology is present in our everyday lives. For some of us, it’s still all ones and zeroes; for others, it started around the time we went to kindergarten, and then the younger kids where technology has always just been there. Can you imagine growing up with an iPad instead of Crayola and printer paper? Kids these days have it too good, and with automakers slowly catching up with consumer technology, even smart devices like Google Home and Amazon Alexa with remote skills, consumers are starting to get a little spoiled too. Be it convenient tech or high-class materials with real leather upholstery, vehicles are getting better and smarter with every new refresh or new generation. It’s a small feat, but in the spirit of making our lives a little easier, Mitsubishi Motors has added a garage opener to some of its vehicles.
We can’t help it, we love technology at NowCar, and although garage door openers are nothing revolutionary, nor is having them in your car, having a remote garage door opener is a nifty piece of tech. Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) is working with The Chamberlain Group, Inc. (CGI), a global leader in access control solutions with its Chamberlain and LiftMaster garage door opener brands. If one were to search for garage door openers as a phone app – yes, people can use their iPhones and Android smartphones as a garage opener – one of the results that come up may be made with myQ connected technology. That’s also a CGI name, and now it’s coming to Mitsubishi Motors.
With the CGI and MMNA working together, available now in all-new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander and 2022 Eclipse Cross vehicles is the myQ connected garage door opener. The new Outlander, new Eclipse Cross, and Eclipse Cross vehicles past and including the 2018 model year will be the first vehicles to work with CGI and myQ connected technology. As long as the model comes with Android Auto™ or the driver has the My Mitsubishi Connect mobile app, they can use the myQ connected garage door opener from basically anywhere…as long as they have access to the in-vehicle touchscreen (Android Auto), or their smartphone (the app).
"We are excited to be the first to offer our drivers the ability to open or close their garage door directly from their in-dash touchscreen…Providing in-dash touchscreen control for the garage enables a more convenient and seamless driving experience. Now, not only will they be able to check to see if they left their garage door open, but they will also be able to close the garage door from anywhere." - Bryan Arnett, Director of Digital Product Strategy for Mitsubishi Motors Research and Development Americas
This is just another development for Mitsubishi Connect and the My Mitsubishi Connect mobile app. The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was the first vehicle to receive Mitsubishi Connect and the Telematics system, primarily for roadside assistance and improving driving behavior. As the service continues to evolve, more features have been added, and the My Mitsubishi Connect mobile app was developed. With this app, Mitsubishi owners and drivers can receive help and emergency services from 24 hour Mitsubishi Assist and read up on all the latest Mitsubishi Motors-related news and learn about new promotions. If in need of maintenance, the app makes it easy to schedule car maintenance appointments and reminders, and if in dire need of quick repairs, the Sales & Service Locator feature will point out Mitsubishi dealerships on the map for navigation.
Like we said, it’s just a small bit of convenience for the everyday car driver, but it’s also a new development in Mitsubishi Motors Connected Car Services. Stay up to date with all the new developments when you follow us on NowCar social media.
