Today, we started a new decade. These 20s might not be known as the Roaring 20s, but loads of happy Dodge owners might state differently. The debut of the 2021 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock produced a stock engine with more than 800 horsepower in its sleek, striking design. There is evidence in the future of Dodge to find out exactly how much of this renaissance of muscle will advance.
The Path Ahead For Dodge
Dodge was not intending to produce electric muscle cars; at least not any time presently. Dodge does not produce any EVs today, but now that Stellantis has received the Dodge brand, we can presume this new company will look to make some changes. The changes might include adding the highly sought after perks of EV technology for the Dodge brand. In all, the merger of FCA and PSA Groupe to create Stellantis was valued at over $52 billion dollars! With all the changes, however, that doesn't include removing the popular Dodge muscle entries, the Charger and Challenger. Both of these Dodge muscle cars have swelled in demand since they made their re-introduction in the mid-2000s and haven't finished growing more well-known and influential.
Will Dodge Look To Create Additional Hellcat Models?
The top-of-the-line SRT (Street Racing Technology) vehicles were always Dodge Challenger and Charger muscle cars. That didn't stop Dodge from adding the superior performance into the new 2021 Dodge Durango with the new SRT Hellcat trim for the popular three-row SUV. Already the fastest three-row SUV in the segment when the SRT trim was created, now for one year the production of the SRT Hellcat will be available for customers. Dodge is suspected to produce many more supercharged V8 engines before the change and shift of muscle cars turns towards electric vehicles. The truth is, we know there will be more Hellcat vehicles. Dodge recently added a few months back a Hellcat for the new 2021 Dodge Durango three-row SUV. The Durango SRT Hellcat will only be around for the 2021 model year, but we might see another Hellcat come into the picture. What does this mean for the EV future for the Dodge brand? The high costs to create EVs has previously held back on production from ever getting underway, but that might not be the case forever.
“The whole world is going to shift to electrification, right? We know this is coming. The whole world’s going to get there and when it does, the price point of that technology is going to come down and the crazy people are going to take the electrification that has now become accessible from a price point and make that performance-based instead of economy-based,” Tim Kuniskis, Dodge CEO
