Nissan Working to Update Entire Lineup To Include EV Trims?

Written By, Brad R

Nissan is preparing to build an entirely different lineup within the next few years. How will this lineup be different? How does as much as 70 percent of its vehicles offering an electric vehicle trim? The anticipated change is expected in less than a year or so. The automaker will create a new, shorter vehicle generation lifespan that will run three years rather than the present-day five-year expectation. This news was reported by Automotive News, noting Nissan's plans going ahead with various models slated to gain a new EV option. After the Nissan Ariya, an all-new EV, debuts in mid-2021, we can anticipate these future EV additions to only grow from the Nissan brand across their vehicle segments.

Tremendous Changes Coming To Nissan

Let's focus on the upcoming Nissan lineup, where it has been announced the 2021 Nissan Maxima sedan will be the last one to be sold in a gasoline-powered engine variant. The Maxima will be turned into an entirely-electric sedan when the next-generation is made. The Nissan Maxima is expected to be transformed due to less than stellar sales figures in the last decade and the thought is the Maxima could be enhanced and become an "elevated sports sedan". The expected due date for this new Maxima is presumed to be offered during the second half of 2022.

Nissan has also been in the works on adding a new successor of the 370Z sports car. This vehicle has been called the 400Z, but Nissan has not given a lot of details away just yet. This Nissan product is entirely motivated by the older Z sports cars giving customers a throwback treatment with the trusted 3.0-Liter V6 powertrain set to be included. Nissan has used this engine to earn recognition which helped it become J.D. Power's most awarded car brand

Nissan GT-R Is Highly Anticipated Among Shoppers

Nissan GT-R Is Highly Anticipated Among ShoppersThe Nissan GT-R is an elegant high-end sports car that will extend between 565 and 600 horsepower to owners to enjoy. While the GT-R is under development and is not foreseen to debut before 2023, we have learned this might be one of the few vehicles to not have an EV option. But other vehicles on the lower end of the Nissan line-up will. The Nissan Versa might see an update or refresh before 2023 with an EV trim offered. The Nissan Sentra is not presumed to see any modifications until 2023 with a potential mid-cycle refresh to come its way.

"We are in the process of massive renewal of our US product lineup," Ashwani Gupta, Nissan COO, recently told Automotive News

Nissan Will Offer Changes To Its SUV Lineup First

Nissan knows the most popular segment is found in the SUV/Crossover market. The Nissan Murano crossover SUV is going to be the first to see a new update for the 2022 model year with an arrival to come in about a year or so. The next Nissan Pathfinder and Nissan Armada will also receive an update and all-new generation by 2021 or 2022 at the latest. Nissan plans to extend EV versions of many of these vehicles, but we won't know when they will debut. For customers hoping to drive new Nissan vehicles, we know there is no easier process than working with NowCar to order from nearly anywhere and receive a home delivery of the newest Nissan vehicles.
