start credit applicationSee any commercials for Turo lately? Starting back in January 2019, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) teamed up with peer-to-peer car sharing startup Turo. The company acts as a rental service, but instead of allowing subscription members to rent whatever is on the lot, the service connects consumers to owners of the vehicle they’re looking for. FCA plans to benefit from this with one of their flagship brands, Jeep®. For consumers who use Turo, find something you like, and then shop online with NowCar to find the car you want.
FCA, Jeep, and Turo
So, this Turo company is actually a pretty interesting concept. The company allows private car owners to rent out their vehicles via an online and mobile interface through Turo to subscribed members. The car-sharing marketplace already has 350,000 vehicles listed and more than 850 unique makes and models available. That’s a large jump from 2017, when, according to Turo, four million users had registered to use the service, and 170,000 privately owned cars were available for rental.
As can be seen in the commercial, Turo looks like a pretty easy-to-use service. Join, download an app, and then see vehicles available for rent in the area. Surely there will be some filters for the brand loyalists out there. Speaking of, that’s where Jeep buyers come to play – literally.
When a member of Turo rents out their vehicle, this actually helps them offset the cost of car payments, with the average owner making $500 a month by lending out their vehicle. The service has become increasingly popular, and based on the numbers above, they’re expanding. Wouldn’t you know, Jeep is actually a high in-demand brand on Turo.
“This partnership is a natural fit for Jeep and Turo. Models across the Jeep lineup have long been among the most popular vehicles for guests on Turo — their versatility appeals to adventure-seekers across the US, no matter the region or season. Jeep owners will find the Turo marketplace a welcoming and engaging place to share these adventures.” – Andre Haddad, the company’s founder.
Now that commercials are going around, we think the pilot program for Jeep and Turo that started in January must have been pretty successful. Get out there and find a car with the options you look for in a vehicle. Then, after you fall in love with it, which we know you will, we can help ease the pain by getting you a great deal for the same car on NowCar.
