Called the “the world’s most beautiful race” according to Enzo Ferrari, the 40th edition of the reenactment of the 1000 Miglia ran from June 15 – 18, 2022. Starting from Brescia, Italy, the race makes stops at several of Italy’s most memorable locations, and with the thrill of adventure, the 1000 Miglia will feature more than 400 priceless vintage cars, 118 of which belong to the brands Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia — a team of undisputed leaders in Italian motorsports.. With 50 vehicles by Alfa Romeo at the starting line, three stand out from the brand’s private collection - the 6C 1500 Super Sport from 1928, the 1900 Sport Spider from 1954 and the 1900 Super Sprint from 1956.
These cars are no joke. All three are on display at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, a comune in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the Italian region Lombardy. Jewels of the historical collection for the automaker, the drivers are just as charming. In the cockpit of the 6C 1500 Super Sport, there is the multi-titled couple Giovanni Moceri and Valeria Dicembre. Driving the 1900 Super Sprint are actually two representatives of Alfa Romeo manufacturing: Francesco Pirozzi, a member of the body shop at the Giambattista Vico plant in Pomigliano, and Cristina Posta, an employee of the assembly department at the Cassino plant. Behind the wheel of the 1900 Sport Spider were Alessandro Alunni Bravi, the managing director of Sauber Motorsport, and Vicki Piria, the driver and sports commentator.

1900 Super Sprint
The true "gran turismo" model of the 1900s, this elegant coupe was known as "the family car which wins races" in the 1950s. A gran turismo vehicle is known to be sporty, offer performance, but also perfect for long rides and road trips, able to provide comfort all the way. The 1900 Super Sprint was based on the 1900 sedan body and came with a 2-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. Designed with the brand’s trademark double camshaft, this engine could generate 115 horsepower back in the day. The most success of the 1900 Super Sprint came from the Milanese company Touring, still considered as one of the most balanced and refined coupés ever produced. Going down in history, only 300 units were produced between 1954 and 1955.
1900 Sport Spider
Extremely rare, the 1900 Sport Spider had only two units ever made. Equipped with a four-cylinder “1900” double camshaft, able to reach a maximum speed of 136 mph, and equipped with a 5-speed transmission and a De Dion rear axle. Designed by Franco Scaglione for Carrozzeria Bertone, the vehicle model had efficient aerodynamics. With superior and reactive handling, the 1900 Sport Spider is on par with modern vehicles today.
