start credit applicationWe can breathe easy, Dodge will offer both electric and gasoline Charger options for their first-ever, all-new, all-electric Dodge muscle car. The debut of the 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona went on as planned. Dodge noted the Charger Daytona is the world’s “first and only electric muscle”, just as the landscape of automotive interests were cooling on EVs. Not any more! Dodge revealed a next-generation internal combustion version of the Charger as well is planned for a little over a year from now.
As we welcome the 2024 all-electric Charger Daytona, first shown in 2022 as the Charger Daytona SRT concept car, we look at the actual production model that will grant all-wheel drive and have a sculpted body style that features an “R-Wing” pass-through that goes air through the grill and over the hood. Set with two trims, the “Scat Pack” grants a 670 horsepower powertrain that secures a blazing fast 3.3 second 0-60 mph time. There’s only tbh R/T trim with 496 horsepower and tons of power for any driver to feel secure.
Dodge Offering Electric Power Personified
Dodge reveals the Charger will employ front and rear “electric drive modules," or motors, with the rear motor gaining a mechanical slip differential for superior traction. Fitted is a 400-volt architecture and a 100.5 kWh battery pack, set for estimated ranges of 317 miles for the R/T and 260 miles for the higher-performance Charger Daytona Scat Pack.
Dodge including gas-powered engines is wonderful, but not what the brand had been repeating for a very long time. Dodge said the Charger includes “multi-energy powertrain options,” included with the 550-horsepower Charger Sixpack HO model, powered by a 3.0-LifTwin Turbo Hurricane “high output” six-cylinder engine, and the 420-horsepower Dodge Charger Sixpack SO model, which uses a detuned version of that engine, dubbed the Twin Turbo Hurricane “standard output” engine. The Hurricane engines are Stellantis’ new inline six-cylinder engines that use twin turbos for enhanced power. The Scat Pack is ready to be the ultimate Dodge performance car till the SRT Banshee is added within the lineup in 2025. A little over 12 months or so when spring 2025 hits, Dodge plans to unleash the Charger Sixpacks: Two- and four-door Chargers crafted on same platforms and bodies as the EVs but with gas powertrains instead.
By 2026, Dodge will push within its technology, soon to be available with a single rear motor with 335 horsepower and 314-lb-ft of torque. The all-new Daytona will be providing the option of a second motor, as well as a 100.5-kW lithium-ion battery with nickel, cobalt and aluminum chemistry and peak discharge rate of 550 kW at a time when 320 kW is a solid Measure.
More Dodge Plans Unveiled
Dodge’s parent Stellantis is in the early stages of its Dare Forward 2030 transformation plan, which aims for 50% EV sales in the US by 2030. CEO Carlos Tavares has been more reseved than other CEOs when setting up the Stellantis’ EV resources as Stellantis is reevaluating its EV spending in 2027 ahead of reallocating further capital. This is the play instead of breaking the bank as they are planning for lofty 2030 goals.
For Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares and Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis had set flexibility in their long-term plans for Dodge, expecting that consumers would not gravitate initially to EV so offering gas powertrain options, or both, would come down to factors like the cost long-term. They were debating government incentives, and shifting consumer preferences when the decision was made and the result is rolling out in less than a year or so for the gasoline 2025 Dodge Charger choice.
